Alternative Vote - Campaigning gets under way.
Friday, 25 February, 2011
Both sides in the Alternative Vote argument have now opened up their campaigns.
We are in for interesting times as David Cameron and Nick Clegg set out their support on opposite sides of the argument.
The Conservative Party stands firmly behind our existing ‘First-past-the-post’system of voting. It has served us well for many years: it is easy to understand, and there is no mistaking the winner. Remember that Ed Miliband was elected leader of the Labour Party under the AV System - on the third round of counting, as the second choice of those who failed to vote for his brother David in the first instance.
"When it comes to our democracy, Britain shouldn't have to settle for anyone's second choice."
