Despite being a Minister in the Department of Education, MP Stephen Morgan is putting children last by voting with the Government to tax education.
The huge 20% VAT hike on independent school fees, and changes to their business rates, will add to pressure on state school placesas pupils are forced to move in the middle of the school year when their parents can’t afford this sudden financing hit,
Parents who choose to scrimp and save to pay for their children’s education also pay taxes which go to fund state schools. Those schools in Portsmouth are already full with budgets strained to provide for existing students.
Staff at the three excellent independent schools in Southsea are also fearing for their job security - another financial consequence of this Labour Government with its politics of envy and inability to see the consequences of its actions.
